Nix & Kix

Context

Nix & Kix is a growing soft drinks brand with a twist – each of its drinks contain a pinch of cayenne pepper instead of sugar. I was commissioned to design a much more distinctive logo that would catch the eye of curiously minded shoppers who might be interested in trying something different. The main challenge was to do this in a way that retained brand recognition and legibility as to not diminish the existing consumer base.

My solution was to replace ‘and’ with a characterful ‘&’, and create a symbiotic relationship between ‘Nix’ & ‘Kix’. An intriguing use of positive and negative space surrounding the ‘&’ created a sense of curiosity and, in turn, a logo that is extremely distinctive and memorable in its category.
